Opalescent MicroFestival Releases Lineup for Second Installment “Synthesis”

By: Marissa Novel

The essence of Opalescent, much like the gem of its namesake, is hard to completely capture. With an undeniable luminosity, its mission is liberating bordering disruptive. More importantly, Opalescent’s effect is something uniquely personal, urging participants — audience members and sensory enhancement providers alike — to reach within and do one thing: Become Your Vision.

Opalescent, the valley’s millennial powered MicroFestival, returns Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Shady Park in Tempe. The theme for the second installment of Opalescent is: Synthesis. Get your fee-free tickets here

syn·the·sis | \ ˈsin(t)-thə-səs  \

: the composition or combination of parts or elements so as to form a whole

: the production of a substance by the union of chemical elements, groups, or simpler compounds or by the degradation of a complex compound

:the combining of often diverse conceptions into a coherent whole

Opalescent: Synthesis gives us an opportunity to recharge our creative pursuits with a new and dynamic approach to art, leisure, and release. With a heavy emphasis on visual and auditory experimentation, the microfest is on a synthetic journey of its own after its inaugural installment in September.

Per its brand ethos, Opalescent: Synthesis is shaking up the valley’s music scene by breaking down the standard format of entertainment. In a time when it’s all too common to be an audience member rather than a participant, Opalescent events provide a refreshing atmosphere that fosters creative individuality and the collective.

Attendees can expect stimulation from all five senses at Opalescent: Synthesis. The musical lineup features spacegeishA, murkury, EOS, SoundScrybe and local support from Sunderberry and LükeWarm.

spacegeishA

Bay Area, CA

It’d be impossible to define spacegeishA’s sound with just two or three genres. This intergalactic goddess of heavy bass dabbles in mid-to-high tempo psychedelic bass, glitch-hop, drum & bass, dubstep, and more. Her uniquely curated sound takes listeners on a journey transcending time, space, and even electronic music.

SpacegeishA has been in the game for more than a decade, and it shows. Get a taste of her other-worldy wubs below.

murkury

Asheville, NC

Get dungeness with the musical stylings of murkury. Dark and elusive, murkury’s beats consist of heavy dub that evokes a tribal, downtempo vibe. Opalescent: Synthesis will be murkury’s Arizona debut, and the producer has shared  previous lineups with favorites such as Desert Dwellers, TRUTH, Khiva, and DRRTYWULVZ.

Step into the the depths of murkury’s mind and check out the track below.

EOS

Denver, CO

EOS will bless Shady Park’s stage with a variety of sounds hailing from the downtempo, chill hop, hip hop, glitch, and future bass genres, to name a few. Beyond the rigid labels of genres, EOS aims to act as visionary by releasing music blending electronic sounds with world music and other genre mashing.

EOS will also be providing original fractal visuals he’s created to accompany his music. Check out the track below from his first full length album released last year.

SoundScrybe

Tucson, AZ

SoundScrybe is no stranger to the valley’s music scene. With his signature blend of experimental psychedelic beats, SoundScrybe routinely includes sounds of psychedelic dub, mid-tempo bass, and progressive trance into his live performances.
